Professor David Doellinger Awarded NEH Summer Stipend

Faculty members in the history department are honored to announce that David Doellinger has just been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipend Grant for his research project "Constructing Peace in East Germany: Conscientious Objectors, 1964-1989."
David will use the grant to conduct archival research in Germany in conjunction with his sabbatical leave from Western this fall 2011.
We congratulate David for his success in being awarded this very competitive grant and for the important recognition of his research that it represents. We are enriched by his scholarship and are so proud of his accomplishments.

History Department Research Grant Recipients


The history department faculty are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011 History Department Research Grant. They are:

Sarah Berry, for her senior thesis project “Pancho Villa and the Lord of the Skies: Narcocorridos in the Corrido Tradition” with primary advisor Professor John Rector and secondary advisor Professor Narasingha Sil.

Jennifer Newby, for her senior thesis project “Jane Addams and Children: Educating the Future One Child at a Time” with primary advisor Professor Kimberly Jensen and secondary advisor Professor Max Geier.

We congratulate them and acknowledge the important work of all of the applicants for the grant this year.
